The Prime Minister of Vietnam, Pham Minh Chinh, instructed the completion of the North-South Expressway by the end of the current year. The massive infrastructure work aims to strengthen the transport corridor connecting the north province of Cao Bang and southernmost province of Ca Mau to ensure economic development and regional linkage. 

Strengthening Global Relations: Brazil-Vietnam Economic Cooperations

Brazil's President, Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, concluded a state visit to Vietnam, during which he and Vietnamese President Luong Cuong considered some strategic economic projects of particular importance:

  • Airline Industry: Vietnam Airlines is considering buying up to 50 aircraft from Brazilian Embraer, aiming to modernize and expand its fleet. 
  • Meat Processing Industry: Brazilian meatpacker JBS will invest $100 million to construct two processing plants in Vietnam in an effort to serve the Southeast Asian market and strengthen its position worldwide. 

All these actions demonstrate Vietnam's rising status as a regional economic partner.

Cultural Heritage at Risk: Traditional Fish Sauce Production Under Threat

Vietnam's ancient fish sauce ("nuoc mam") making heritage is under threat from overfishing and climate change. The fall in anchovy stocks, which are essential for producing genuine fish sauce, is gravely undermining this heritage. Overfishing and warming oceans have led to the depletion of fish stocks, endangering the industry and Vietnam's heritage.
