Tragic Landslides in Kerala Leave 93 People Dead, Others Still Stuck

Oh man, it's so sad! There have been these massive landslides in Kerala, India, because of really heavy rains, and at least 93 people have lost their lives! This is like the worst thing to happen there since those terrible floods in 2018 that killed over 400 people. The landslides hit the hillier parts of a place called Wayanad on Tuesday morning.

They're trying to rescue people, but it's super hard because it's still raining cats and dogs, and a big bridge that was really important broke down. So now, the areas where people need help are totally cut off.

This big shot, V. Venu, who's basically the boss of the state, talked to the news and said it's a really bad situation and it might get worse because more people could be hurt or even dead. They've got over 200 soldiers to help the police and stuff look for people.

The Kerala big boss, Pinarayi Vijayan, said that the landslides totally flattened one area, and more than 100 people are hurt and getting treatment in hospitals. They've had to move over 3,000 people to these 45 different camps to keep them safe.

On top of that, 65 people died in this one area called Wayanad, and another 16 in the Chaliyar river, which goes to a place called Malappuram. And it's not just that, they've found some body parts too, which is just so, so sad.

This place, Wayanad, is like super prone to landslides because it's in these big mountains called the Western Ghats. The areas that got hit are Mundakkai, Attamala, Chooralmala, and Kunhome. People have been posting videos on social media showing all this brown water just rushing through towns and forests, taking everything with it.

And then, there's this bridge that used to connect Chooralmala to Mundakkai and Attamala, but now it's gone because of the landslides. Someone who lives there, Rashid Padikkalparamban, said three big ones happened around midnight, which made the bridge fall apart and made the whole situation way worse.

They've got teams from the state and the whole country trying to help out, but it's like super tough because of the rain and stuff. Everyone's just trying to do their best to help the people who got stuck and save them.
