So, in June, the number of phones from companies outside of China that got shipped there went up by 10.9% from the same time last year, hitting 2.87 million. That's cool and all, but it's definitely not as fast as before, when they were growing like crazy. The people who keep track of these things, the China Academy of Information and Communications Technology (CAICT), said so on a Monday.
The whole phone market in China was still doing pretty good though, with 24.91 million phones getting sent out, which is 12.5% more than the month before. But when you look at just the phones from other countries, their growth rate took a little break from the usual over 40% growth spurt they had the two months before.
Now, Apple's iPhones are a big deal here, and they usually have a lot to do with how well these foreign phones are doing in China. But it seems like Apple might not be the golden child anymore. Some other companies that watch the phone market, like Canalys and IDC, are saying that Apple's phone shipments in China went down by 6.7% in the second part of this year.
This info tells us that the phone scene in China is changing up. There's more competition now, and people are starting to like different stuff.
