Guys, Arjun Babuta, our very own sharpshooter from India, has made it to the 10m air rifle finals at the Olympic Games! He's been absolutely killing it in the shooting department. This dude came in seventh in the qualifiers on Sunday, which is a pretty big deal!
Arjun, who's only 25 and from Chandigarh, has been showing off some serious consistency and talent, scoring a total of 630.1 points. He's been nailing shots left and right with scores like 105.7, 104.9, 105.5, 105.4, 104.0, and 104.6. This guy's really got it going on, and now he's set for the big eight-shooter final on Monday!
You know what's cool? This isn't his first time showing us what he's made of. He and Ramita Jindal almost made it to the finals in the mixed team event, but ended up in sixth place. So close! But hey, that's still pretty amazing.
Arjun's been part of Team India since 2016, and everyone's been talking about how much potential he has. And now, after making it to the Olympics last year from the Asian Shooting Championships in Changwon, he's really showing us his stuff.
On the flip side, Sandeep Singh didn't make the final cut and came in 12th with 629.3 points. But hey, it's his first Olympics, so he's got nothing to be sad about. He's learned a ton, and he beat world champ Rudrankksh Patil in the selection trials earlier this year, so he's still pretty badass.
China's Sheng Lihao was the top scorer in the qualifiers with 631.7 points, which is super close to the record set by another Chinese shooter, Yang Haoran, at the Tokyo Games.
So, keep your eyes peeled for Arjun Babuta in the finals. He's aiming for the gold, and we're all rooting for him to bring it home!
