Fantasy Football Draft Strategy: What to Do With Picks 8 and Beyond

Alright, folks, let's get this party started! It's that time of year again, when we all pretend we know more about football than we actually do and try to outsmart our friends. Welcome to fantasy football draft season!

So, put down those noisemakers and let's get serious for a sec. This is the first of six little chats we're having about how to totally crush your draft. Next time, we'll gab about tight ends, kickers, and those defense/special teams folks.

The Madman's Draft Thinking

Now, the Madman's approach is to go nuts for the big-name players early on. It's like filling your cart with all the good stuff before anyone else can get to it. The idea is, grab the best players you can, and don't worry too much about specific positions just yet.

But, oh boy, when you're stuck with picks 8 or 9, things get a bit hairy.

The Picks 8 and 9 Struggle

So, we've got this little issue with picks 8 and 9. Ideally, you want one of the top seven players from our list. You know, the guys like Christian McCaffrey, CeeDee Lamb, Amon-Ra St. Brown, Tyreek Hill, Ja’Marr Chase, Bijan Robinson, and Breece Hall. If you miss out on them, it's like someone took your favorite toy away.

The real kicker is pick No. 9. You might see Justin Jefferson go before your turn, which is a bummer. He's a beast of a wide receiver, no doubt about it. But in our fantasy world, we're a tad nervous about passing on him too early.

The Wrap-Up

When you're picking after the first seven, you've gotta play it smart and be ready to switch things up. The Madman's all about grabbing the best players early, but you might need to tweak your plan a bit if you're not one of the cool kids with the top picks.

Stay tuned for next week's chat where we'll spill the tea on tight ends, kickers, and those defense/special teams guys. It's gonna be a blast, and hopefully, you'll learn a thing or two to build that dream team of yours.

So, get ready to draft like a pro, or at least like someone who pretends to be one. Happy picking!
